And in order to keep the audience interested, over the years, hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White have introduced a number of fun “themed” weeks.
Past themes have included:
- College Road Trip
- Fun and Fit
- Great American Cities
The “Southern Charm” week episodes initially aired in March of 2017, but it wasn't until the reruns hit the airwaves in June that people took notice of something in one of the background shots.
And it wasn't at all “charming”:
The Wheel of Fortune staff must have no POC on it or they'd never have permitted a backdrop as part of Southern Charm week w/SLAVES in it⁉️😕 pic.twitter.com/Y7w3xGy2Gi— Jason Hunt (@PolitiSearch) June 17, 2017
But there's just one problem: color photography as we know it did not exist until 1886, over two decades after the Civil War (and slavery in America) ended. Even then, colors were muted rather than vibrant, and long exposure times required that the subjects be still for some time in order to get a proper image.
