Colorado Initiative Would Ban Smartphone Sales To Kids Under 13

A Colorado group is working to ban smartphone sales to kids younger than 13.  Parents Against Underage Smartphones, or PAUS is gathering signatures to put an initiative on the November 2018 ballot.

The proposal is already raising concerns about state interference in families.  Smartphones aren't cheap, so the ban probably would apply to parents buying the devices for their children.  One woman asked on Facebook, "If they are not your kids, how is it your business to decide whether or not they are responsible/mature enough to have a cellphone?"
